It was my very first pole dance competition
I had been training with my coach Vicky on Saturdays for quite a while and was always very proud of myself when I managed a new trick that I could then capture in a photo. My progress was marked by baby steps, but I was steadily improving. Admittedly, I am not overly talented in pole dancing and I lack the burning athletic ambition that would drive me to swing on the pole several times a week. Nevertheless, one day the desire to get more out of myself took hold of me.
Inspired by the fascinating LowFlow courses
Inspired by the fascinating LowFlow courses at our studio, I chose a song that has a special meaning to me. In my head, I created a choreography by stringing together tricks that I found beautiful and that fit the music. This is how my very first choreography came about. Thanks to the support of the other girls in my course, I was able to refine the basic idea. I trained the choreography in small steps during the Open Pole sessions and steadily increased the dance sections. Finally, I managed to dance a full 3:30 minutes in one go!
The Day of the Championship
The day of my first Pole Dance Competition was an incredible experience. It was a rollercoaster of emotions - excitement, self-doubt, pride, and gratitude for the wonderful support of my girls from the studio flooded me. Although my performance on this day was not enough for a good ranking (some criteria were not met by my choreography, because I had never explicitly dealt with them, but simply danced my feelings), I still felt like the big winner.
I have outgrown myself
I have outgrown myself and proved to myself how much courage, ambition, and joy really lies within me in this sport.
I am curious about what I can achieve in the future :-)
