Common mistakes that can hinder your pole dance progress

Are you new to pole dancing? Than it can be challenging to progress at a steady pace!

Are you an intermediate or advanced pole dancer who feels stuck or is even getting worse?


Most of the pole dancers do some of those mistakes in their pole dance life!

Personally I reached that point quite often in my pole dancer life, and i must say im guilty of some of the mistakes listed below.


There are many factors that can impact your progress, including your technique, strength, flexibility, and mindset. However, there are also some common mistakes that can slow down your progress or even cause you to plateau.


Common Mistakes To Avoid

Here are some of the most common mistakes to avoid:

1. Skipping warm-ups and cool-downs:

Pole dancing can be a physically demanding activity, and it's essential to prepare your body properly before each session. Skipping warm-ups can increase your risk of injury, while skipping cool-downs can prevent your muscles from properly recovering and adapting.


2. Focusing too much on tricks and not enough on technique:

While tricks may be impressive, they won't help you progress if your technique is poor. It's essential to focus on proper form and alignment to avoid injury and ensure that you're building a solid foundation for more advanced moves. Basics are key and should be revisited more often. It is similar to building a house, if the ground is not set right, the house will never be stable!


3. Avoid neglecting one side:

It's common to train using both sides when using a technique. However, as the tricks become more challenging, we tend to become lazier and avoid practicing them on our non-dominant side. To continue progressing, it's crucial to make an effort and try the tricks on both sides.

4. Neglecting strength and flexibility training:

Pole dancing requires a combination of strength, flexibility, and endurance. Neglecting any of these areas can make it harder to progress and increase your risk of injury. Make sure to include strength and flexibility training in your pole dance routine.


5. Comparing yourself to others:


It's easy to get caught up in comparing yourself to other pole dancers, especially with the prevalence of social media. However, everyone progresses at their own pace, and it's essential to focus on your own journey rather than comparing yourself to others.




By avoiding these common mistakes, you can set yourself up for success and make steady progress in your pole dance journey.
